I know there may only be a short amount of time remaining this winter season, but that does not mean that the maximalist inside you should be kept inside due to the frigid temperatures.
During the cold weather, it may seem easier to slip on your favorite pair of leggings and sweatshirt when the weather starts to get cooler, but I am here to tell you that you have so much more creative energy than that. Dressing up may look like a black sweater, jeans, and some black shoes…. but you are not Dwayne Johnson and you are also not confined to color basics.

When time comes to start picking and choosing outfits, a scale is running through your head: casual, semi casual, stunting, and knocking the socks off of the people around you. It may still be hard to decide what to wear. After all, if you are a maximalist who has shopping behaviors like myself, your closet will be mostly full of statement pieces with little- to-no basics to pair with said pieces.
Here is where I like to get inspiration from multiple outlets…
Pinterest-On Pinterest, some people can scroll for hours. This is a great source for finding true outfit inspiration, as when you are shopping or just browsing through your closet you can find pieces that look like what you see in your feed. This is how my Pinterest looks…

Tiktok– This is a great way to find creators who make content around fashion (i.e. outfits, where to buy certain clothes, styling, etc.), and you can find maximalist content creators to take inspo from. My favorite is @ evelilycp
Instagram– Like Tiktok, this is a great way to find creators, except most of the time they are solely posting their outfits or reels of styling their outfits. The key is to find creators with similar taste as you when it comes to your idea of maximalism. My favorite creator is @ afashionnerd
Let’s talk trends..
This season, after researching many of the trends, they seem to be geared towards minimalism… quite the opposite from my pick of the patch. When you scroll on Tiktok these minimal fashion takes seem to always be followed with descriptions like “timeless,” “chic,” “sophisticated,” and most comically (because you know everything on Tiktok has to have a name given to it) “old money vibes.” However, many of my pieces are business casual, are they not chic and sophisticated because their main color is not cream? I think not. Additionally, as my home page states, in a world full of people wanting to be Chanel, be a Schiaparelli. In other words, do not be afraid to be bold amongst people who would rather be, well, subtle.
I took some of the fall trends for this season, f/w 2023, and combined them with some of my own loves. I am a person of maximalism, and therefore more is more when it comes to a trend. Additionally, I have a habit of wearing a trend before they happen to become trends (cowboy silhouette boots, croc printed boots, colors, prints, etc). Therefore, if you happen to fall in love with any of my looks and wear them, know that you may be ahead of the game. Although, fashion is always repeating itself so would you (we, us?) then be behind?
Some things to note that are said to be of trend this season due to them appearing on the runway are the color red, bows, metallic (silver), basics (especially business casual), dark romance, and overall dark colors like black and navy (can we queue the quote of “florals for spring? groundbreaking.”)

Now based upon my own Pinterest and trend theme here is what I predict/ think will be cool for all maximalists out there: leopard print, zebra print IF you can style it, burgundy, pastels in fall/winter, vertical black &white stripes, denim dresses, neck ties that are unique, leg warmers, ruffles/tiers/layers, monochromatic outfits.
Now I present to you my personal maximalism fall 2023 taste from items I have styled myself and items from my social media feeds…

Better yet, search any outfit worn in the series The Nanny, streaming on HBO Max. Fran is the ultimate maximalist, and she wore every outfit incredibly.
