Stylish Colors and Patterns You Need for 2025

Fall has come, winter is here, and a new year is on the way. What does that mean for us? New fashion trends and finds-a maximalist’s dream or nightmare (the wallet is terrified for sure).

Living in Texas, the weather here does not allow for the same fashion that states along the coast such as New York have. There, things like faux fur coats thrive in fall and winter. Here, we may wear light layers and save the faux fur for when as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones says.. “winter is coming.”

There are trends that continue to remain popular, trends that are up and coming, and a few trends that are like ghosts from the past that may have you raising your brow- whether it be quizzically or with intrigue.

Alas, I am here to sort through and deliver quality advice on what trends to follow as we head into the new year.

Let’s talk about colors…

Navy. Not the sailors or the seals, no, but the color that takes over the night skies, has a retro/vintage feel, and gives black a run for it’s money. Let’s think about it. In spring/summer, we saw shades of lighter blue- pastel, sky, powder, even cobalt. Now, as the days grow shorter and the nights grow longer, the blue in fashion also grows darker with the night. This does not go to say that lighter blues are not also trending (because they are), but that navy is on the rise.

Burgundy. Perhaps even labeled merlot or cabernet. This color is a deeper take on the ever so trendy red that does not seem to be leaving fashion anytime soon. Like with navy, fall and winter generally brings about deeper colors. If summer/spring is red, then fall/winter is burgundy. This color makes total sense for fall/winter as well, I mean it is one of the colors that leaves turn when the fall season arrives.

Let’s talk patterns…

Leopard print. You may be dressing in a mob wife aesthetic, modern French girl, leaning in a Copenhagen way, or maybe you just love Fran Drescher from the Nanny… the bottom line is that this trend is trending in multiple ways. From glamorous to casual, you can spot (literally, spot) this trend everywhere. Leopard print, like the color red, is an obsession that does not seem to be going anywhere.

Zebra print. A print that was wildly crazy in the 2010-2012 era, and is now on the rise once more. This trend is not as popular as leopard print, but it brings about the same flare. Made up of black and white, two colors of elegance and chic. When combined together, ELLE magazine writer Madison Rexroat defines someone who wears zebra print as someone with spunk and if that someone knows how to style the print in an elevated way, they have attitude.

Tortoise shell. No, this is not green, or red, or shot at you as you’re trying to drive down rainbow road in Mario Kart. This is a chic fashionable pattern that provides an accent to any outfit with accessories such as shoes, nails, sunglasses, and jewelry.

Lastly, let’s talk fabric.

Denim. We have a continuation of denim on denim, diy jeans, and “jazzy jeans.” Denim on denim is alive and well, the key is styling it in an elevated way. DIY jeans are something I know and love. If you find a unique jean on Pinterest you like, try to do it yourself! Personalize it and wear it with confidence. What is labeled “jazzy jeans” are jeans that have a flare to them in a glamorous way. Fringe, sequins, sparkles. Who needs a regular jean when you can have a jazzy jean? These are great ways to elevate your denim fashion.

These trends can be fun, bold, elegant, and of course have a flare. Now it’s time for you to style these trends with your own flare to them. Let me know in the comments below, what are you most excited about?
