Even though it is a staple fabric and is present all year round, this season there has been a particularly high level of attraction to denim. When I look at social media and even my Pinterest feed, I am seeing a particularly high level of denim pieces- vests, dresses, tops, and of course, bottoms.
The denim styling is not going as far as to be Justin and Britney on the 2001 American Music Awards red carpet..

No, there is a classy take on how to style denim on denim. The ‘double D’ does not have to exude a western aesthetic. In fact, it can be seen in a suited or 2 piece fashion, mixed colors, and even layering with accessories.
Let’s take a look…

Denim has also been seen this year almost like an accessory or utilized as a separation between other fabrics or prints. I have seen this most common in with a denim vest or halter type top. Recently, I have seen these types of tops styled with gingham, red clothing, and white maxi skirts.
Here are some examples..

Lastly are denim dresses and jumpsuits (including rompers). These have not been as common among my browsing and searching, but alas it is still here. Coco Chanel capitalizes on the class, chicness, timelessness, and significance of the little black dress. With the right styling and perhaps some gratitude to Yellowstone, denim holds that same power.
Here are some denim dresses, jumpsuits, and rompers that show Coco that denim is the new black….

Of course we have a staple jean in our closet, but I implore you to try something new with your denim. Try layering, try accessorizing, try using it as a separation method- just try something other than a jean.
